Film night at Chabad
Join us as we watch as a community a historical film telling the story of Maimonides, the Jewish philosopher and doctor who became one of the most prolific and influential Torah scholars of the Middle Ages.
Starting off in his birthplace in Cordova, Spain, we will follow Maimonides and his family as he escapes persecution and moves to Morocco as all the while the young Maimonides delves into the wisdom of Torah and medicine.
When threatened by the fanatical Almohads, Maimonides fulfills a lifelong dream of immigrating to ancient Israel but alas the land was not safe there either being ruled by the Crusaders.
Finally settling in Footstat, Old Cairo, Maimonides experiences the prime years of his life authoring as spiritual leader of the Jewish community in Egypt and chief physician of the Sultan.
