Congregation Beth Israel mourns the loss of Ilene Goldberg, z”l, passed away peacefully on Aug. 17, 2024 at the age of 97. Ilene was born and raised in Portland, Ore. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, and the University of California at Berkley. Ilene was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Maurice Goldberg, z”l,; her daughter, Joan Ramsey, z”l; and her two siblings, Stanley Steinberg, z”l, and Thelma Schnitzer, z”l. She is survived by her son, Bruce Goldberg; and her two granddaughters, Carolyn and Jennifer Ramsey. Ilene was an avid golfer, enjoyed travel, the symphony, and served as a docent at Portland's Japanese Garden. Donations in Ilene's memory can be directed to Congregation Beth Israel.
