Valerie Jordan will discuss several types of secrets that family historians might discover during their research, including secrets about religion, biological parents, second families, affairs, mental health, incarceration, military service, and sexual orientation. Valerie is a second-generation American originally from New York City; she moved to Portland in 2024. She has a Ph.D. in developmental psychology and retired as a professor of psychology in 2012. Her maternal grandparents were from Bucharest and her paternal grandmother was from Odessa.
