850,000 Jewish people were displaced from Arab countries and Iran in the 20th century. Last June, Israel declared November 30th national day of commemorating Jewish refugees from Arab lands and Iran, or Mizrahi Remembrance Day. This is part of a long term effort to learn about and celebrate Mizrahi culture in Israel and all over the world; now we have a chance to come together in Portland and do the same.

After hearing a bit about the history and experiences of Mizrahim, stick around to decorate memorial candles to bring home and light. Please join us in the spirit of learning something new, and stay to express yourself and for light refreshments.

Free and open to the public.
