For the past ten days we have been watching from afar the situation in Israel and Gaza. Even with a prospective ceasefire in progress, the situation in Israel and Gaza is still quite fluid, with rockets still falling and this morning's bus bombing in Tel Aviv.
This past week, I was in Baltimore, Maryland for the annual Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly, where 3,000 communal leaders from around the world gathered to discuss important issues facing the Jewish people.
Tuesday, President Barack Obama was re-elected to lead our country for the next four years. As I watched the election returns come in I was fascinated by the exit poll data about how different ethnic and religious groups voted.
Sunday night was a wonderful night for our community. Federation’s Campaign Kick-Off Event, chaired by Lauren Goldstein, was an incredible success with nearly 500 people in attendance, including many who attended a Federation event for the first time.
Over the past two years, you have heard me talk about the need to meet today’s and tomorrow’s needs and interests while working to attract new audiences and keep traditionalists happy.
